Queens Park - Bandstand
Built c.1932. The Bandstand was derelict and structurally unstable prior to our involvement. Ian Bright's conservation design was for it to be carefully dismantled unsitu. Three of the eight original cast iron columns were corroded beyond repair and the roof was temporarily propped whilst they were replaced with accurate cast iron replicas. Approx 40% of the complexed roof structure was reconstructed. Damaged stone was replaced with new stone indents. The interior of the new cupola is designed to encourage bat roosting. The full restoration took fourteen months to complete on site.
